FISCAL NOTE, 80TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 6, 2007

TO:
Honorable Robert Duncan, Chair, Senate Committee on State Affairs

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB123 by Deuell (Relating to excepting from required disclosure under the public information law certain personal information maintained by a municipality that pertains to a minor.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would add Section 552.148 to the Government Code to except from public disclosure certain information about a minor (a person who is younger than 18 years of age) maintained by a municipality for the purposes related to participation by a minor in a recreational program or activity.

The bill would take effect immediately if it were to receive the required two-thirds vote in each house; otherwise, it would take effect September 1, 2007.

It is assumed any increase in workload for the Office of the Attorney General as a result of implementation of the bill could be absorbed within current resources.
