FISCAL NOTE, 80TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 30, 2007

TO:
Honorable Jeff Wentworth, Chair, Senate Committee on Jurisprudence

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB163 by Deuell (Relating to requiring support of certain children over 18 years of age.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend statute and permit a court to order child support until the child is 18 years of age and after that date as long as the child is younger than 21 years of age and remains enrolled as a full-time student in an educational institution. It is assumed that any additional costs associated with implementation of provisions of the bill could be absorbed within existing state resources.

This bill would take effect September 1, 2007.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
