IN RE:	SB237 by Shapiro (Relating to the supreme court's adoption of rules on the electronic filing of documents in civil cases in justice of the peace courts.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Government Code § 22.004 to require the Supreme Court of Texas to promulgate rules governing the electronic filing of civil cases in justice of the peace courts.  To the extent the bill would require the court to review and adopt rules, the fiscal implication to the State is not anticipated to be significant. 

 

The bill would take immediate effect if the bill receives the vote of two-thirds of the members of each House.  Otherwise, the bill would take effect September 1, 2007.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.  To the extent justice of the peace courts must modify procedures to follow Supreme Court rules, the fiscal implication is not anticipated to be significant.
