LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 80TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 2, 2007

TO:
Honorable Bill Callegari, Chair, House Committee on Government Reform

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB300 by Ellis (Relating to the duration of judgment liens in favor of the state.), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Under current law, all judgment liens must be refiled every 10 years. The bill would create an exception for judgment liens in favor of the state or state agencies. Although the bill would have no effect on state revenue, it would reduce the expense associated with refiling judgment liens every 10 years.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
