Honorable Robert Duncan, Chair, Senate Committee on State Affairs
FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE:
SB361 by Janek (Relating to the deadline for submitting a federal postcard application to the early voting clerk.), As Introduced
No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Election Code to allow a member of the armed forces or of the merchant marines, their spouse, or their children to submit a federal postcard application to the early voting clerk on or before the 20th day before election day. Under current statute, an applicant must submit the application on or before the 30th day before election day. The proposed change in statute could result in an increase in the number of ballots an early voting clerk sends out.
Local Government Impact
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
