Fiscal Analysis

The bill would amend the Family, Labor, Government and Insurance Codes to require court orders for child support to include dental insurance coverage.

The bill would take effect September 1, 2007.

Methodology

Based on the analysis of the Texas Department of Insurance, approximately 37 Health Maintenance Organizations and 113 Accident and Health dental plans would each file one approval filing and each pay the associated $100 filing fee, resulting in a one-time gain of $15,000 in fiscal year 2008 to the GR-Dedicated Texas Department of Insurance Operating Account No. 0036.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
