No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure relating to an offense committed against a homeless person because of bias or prejudice. The bill proposes a definition for homelessness. According to the Office of the Attorney General, any additional prosecution of cases or monitoring of prosecution of cases as described under the bill could be absorbed within current resources. The bill would take effect September 1, 2007.
