SB559 by Ellis (Relating to the establishment of a registry at the Texas Department of Insurance of certain legal entities determined to have sold race-based insurance coverage.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Insurance Code to require the Department of Insurance to establish a registry of entities engaged in the business of insurance that have sold race-based insurance coverage.  The bill would require the commissioner to adopt any necessary rules.

Based on the analysis of the Department of Insurance, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources.

The bill would take effect September 1, 2007.

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
