LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 80TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 15, 2007

TO:
Honorable Jeff Wentworth, Chair, Senate Committee on Jurisprudence

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB562 by Harris (Relating to an exemption from jury duty in certain counties.), As Introduced

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would apply to exemption from jury duty in a county with a population of 1.4 million or more and that has within its boundaries at least two municipalities that each have a population of 300,000 or more. Based on the 2000 U.S. Census, the population criteria would apply only to Tarrant County.

Local Government Impact

Because the bill would not have statewide impact on units of local government of the same type or class, no comment from this office is required by the rules of the House/Senate as to its probable fiscal implication on units of local government.
