LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 80TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 24, 2007

TO:
Honorable Harvey Hilderbran, Chair, House Committee on Culture, Recreation, & Tourism

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB573 by Brimer ( Relating to the interim study concerning the breeding of white-tailed and mule deer in this state.), Committee Report 2nd House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would create a new select interim committee to study the practice of breeding white-tailed deer and mule deer. The committee would consist of ten members, appointed by the Lieutenant Governor, the Speaker of the House, and the Governor.  The bill would authorize member expenses incurred in implementing the study to be paid equally from the contingent expenses funds of the Senate and House of Representatives.  According to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD), staff time and resources to assist and provide data to the select committee are expected to be minimal.  Also, to the extent the Senate and House of Representatives would incur costs for interim committee expenses, costs are expected to be minimal; therefore, no significant fiscal impact to the State is anticipated.

The bill would take effect September 1, 2007.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
