SB602 by Van de Putte (Relating to political activities of labor organizations that accept certain public funds; providing a criminal penalty.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Under the the bill a labor organization that represents peace officers and that accepts a grant or appropriated money from a state agency, is prohibited from establishing a political committee, assisting a political committee with political activities or making a political contribution. An offense under this section is a third degree felony. The Texas Department of Criminal Justice indicates no significant fiscal impact from this bill.

The bill would take effect September 1, 2007.
