IN RE:	SB602 by Van de Putte (Relating to political activities of labor organizations that accept certain public funds; providing a criminal penalty.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Under the the bill a labor organization that represents peace officers and that accepts a grant or appropriated money from a state agency, is prohibited from establishing a political committee, assisting a political committee with political activities or making a political contribution. An offense under this section is a third degree felony. The Texas Department of Criminal Justice indicates no significant fiscal impact from this bill.

The bill would take effect September 1, 2007.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
