FISCAL NOTE, 80TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 23, 2007

TO:
Honorable Will Hartnett, Chair, House Committee on Judiciary

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB618 by Wentworth (Relating to the jurisdiction of and representation in the county, justice, and small claims courts in civil matters.), As Engrossed

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Government Code by raising from a maximum of $5,000 to a maximum of $10,000 the value of claims in civil matters as the amount dictates jurisdiction of county, justice, and small claims courts to preside over a case.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
