LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 80TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 6, 2007

TO:
Honorable John Carona, Chair, Senate Committee on Transportation & Homeland Security

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB622 by Carona (Relating to the collection of certain data for the Texas Natural Resources Information System and the duties of the Texas Geographic Information Council.), As Introduced

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Section 16.021 of the Water Code to add emergency management related data to the data collected by the Texas Natural Resources Information System (TNRIS) and changes the due date of the biennial report of the Texas Geographic Information Council (TGIC) from September 1 to November 1 of even-numbered years and also clarifies information required in the report.

The Texas Water Development Board, the agency where TNRIS is housed, does not anticipate any fiscal impact because TNRIS is already collecting emergency management related data, and the changes to the TGIC report only moves the due date.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
