LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 80TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 1, 2007

TO:
Honorable Dianne White Delisi, Chair, House Committee on Public Health

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB692 by Uresti (Relating to the authority of a dental assistant to perform coronal polishing and apply a pit and fissure sealant.), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Occupations Code to provide a licensed dentist the authority to delegate the performance of a coronal polishing and application of a pit and fissure sealant to a dental assistant who holds a coronal polishing and pit and fissure sealant certificate.

Based on information provided by the Board of Dental Examiners, it is assumed that costs related to the duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be covered by utilizing existing resources.

The bill would take effect immediately if it receives a vote of two-thirds of all members elected to each house; otherwise it would take effect September 1, 2007.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
