SB697 by Shapleigh (Relating to the issuance of high school diplomas to certain crime victims.), As Introduced

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Upon the request of the parent, certain school districts would be required to posthumously award a high school diploma to a student who was the victim of a criminal homicide during the 2005-2006 school year and was in the 12th grade during that year.  The bill's provisions would apply only to a school district that had student enrollment of 80,000 or more at the beginning of the school year. 

The bill would take effect on September 1, 2007, or immediately upon enactment by the necessary voting majorities.  The provisions would expire on September 1, 2008.


Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
