LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 80TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 14, 2007

TO:
Honorable Jeff Wentworth, Chair, Senate Committee on Jurisprudence

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB699 by Carona (Relating to the partial use of driver's license and social security numbers in certain court documents.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Civil Practice and Remedies Code to require in a civil action filed in a district court, county court, statutory county court, or statutory probate court, that each party or their attorney include in the initial pleading the last two numbers of the party's driver's license number and the last four numbers of the party's social security number. The court would be authorized to order an initial pleading to be amended if the information is not included in the pleading, and could find a party in contempt if the party does not amend the pleading.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
