IN RE:	SB745 by Seliger (Relating to the eligibility of persons convicted of certain offenses to possess or carry certain firearms. ), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Government and the Penal Code relating to the eligibility of persons convicted of certain offenses to posses or carry certain firearms.
 
The bill would amend Government Code, Section 411 and Penal Code Section 46 which states when offenses are not considered felonies or misdemeanors when an order of deferred adjudication has been expunged, pardoned, or vacated, set aside, annulled, invalidated, discharged, voided or sealed. The bill would take effect immediately if it is passed by two-thirds votes of all members of each house. Otherwise, the bill would take effect on September 1, 2007.
 
The Department of Public Safety anticipates that the bill would have no significant fiscal impact to their agency.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
