FISCAL NOTE, 80TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 14, 2007

TO:
Honorable Jane Nelson, Chair, Senate Committee on Health & Human Services

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB759 by Nelson (Relating to certain requirements relating to permanency hearings and placement review hearings for children under the care of the Department of Family and Protective Services.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Section 263.501(e), Family Code, to require children under the care of the Department of Family and Protective Services to attend permanency review hearings unless the court specifically excuses their attendance.  The agency indicates that any costs associated with the bill could be absorbed within current resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
