LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 80TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 11, 2007

TO:
Honorable Kip Averitt, Chair, Senate Committee on Natural Resources

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB775 by Jackson, Mike (Relating to an interim study concerning this state's hunting and fishing license systems.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Parks and Wildlife Code to require the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) to conduct a study of ways to improve the efficiency and ease of use of the department's hunting and fishing license systems. The study must be complete by July 1, 2008 and a summary must be submitted to the Governor and various legislative offices by October 1, 2008.  According to TPWD, the department has recently been engaged in activity to review the licenses system and because the study as outlined in the bill would be completed with existing resources, no significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would take immediate effect with a two-thirds vote of all members, otherwise the bill would take effect September 1, 2007.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
