No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Section 545.153, Transportation Code (Vehicle Entering Stop or Yield Intersection), by enhancing the punishment for a violation of the statute if as a result of the violation a collision causing property damage occurred or a collision causing serious bodily injury or death occurred.

The bill would also amend Section 11, Article 42.12, Code of Criminal Procedure, to require a judge granting community supervision for a Section 545.153, Transportation Code offense that resulted in serious bodily injury or death, to require as a condition of supervision that the defendant be confined in jail for not less than 30 days.


Local Government Impact
