LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 80TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 9, 2007

TO:
Honorable John Carona, Chair, Senate Committee on Transportation & Homeland Security

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB850 by Duncan (Relating to the designation of certain highways as the Ports-to-Plains Corridor.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would require the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to design, construct, and erect markers to designate certain highways in Texas as the "Ports-to-Plains Corridor" if a grant or donation is made to the department to cover the costs associated with designing, constructing, or erecting a marker.

Based on the analysis of TxDOT, it is assumed that any costs or duties associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within existing resources.

The bill would take effect on September 1, 2007.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
