LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 80TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 19, 2007

TO:
Honorable John Carona, Chair, Senate Committee on Transportation & Homeland Security

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB893 by Zaffirini (Relating to the acquisition of an international railroad toll bridge by certain counties.), As Introduced

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Based on the analysis of the Texas Department of Transportation, it is assumed the provisions of the bill would have no fiscal impact to the state.

Local Government Impact

The fiscal impact to units of local government would vary depending on the size of the local body and the size of the bridge project that would be allowed under the provisions of the bill. It is assumed that a governmental entity, including a county, would enter into an agreement to jointly acquire, construct, maintain, or operate a toll bridge, including an international toll bridge, only if sufficient funds were available.
