No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Transportation Code relating to use of electronically readable information on a driver's license or personal identification certificate by certain organizations that sponsor youth programs.

The bill would amend Transportation Code, Section 521.126(d) which states an individual is not committing an offense under Section 521.126 (a) if the person is screening an individual to work with children if a person is an employee of a public school district or an organization exempt from federal income tax under Internal Revenue Code, Section 501(c)(3) that sponsors youth programs. The bill would take effect immediately if two-thirds of the House of Representatives and Senate members vote to enact the legislation. If it does not receive the vote necessary for immediate impact, the bill would take effect on September 1, 2007.

The Department of Public Safety anticipates no significant fiscal impact to the agency. 

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
