LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 80TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 5, 2007

TO:
Honorable John Carona, Chair, Senate Committee on Transportation & Homeland Security

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB1044 by Deuell (Relating to revenue from Texas State Rifle Association specialty license plates.), As Introduced

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Transportation Code to change the distribution of revenue from the Texas State Rifle Association specialty license plate that is appropriated to Texas A&M University. Fifty percent of the amount appropriated to Texas A&M University would be used to supplement existing and future scholarship programs supported by the Texas State Rifle Association and the remaining fifty percent would be forwarded to the Texas 4-H Foundation in support of the Texas Shooting Sports Program.

Based on the analysis of the Texas A&M University System Administrative and General Offices and the Texas Department of Transportation, it is assumed the provisions of the bill would not result in a fiscal impact to the state.

The bill would take effect on September 1, 2007.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
