No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Family Code, Section 52.02(a) by adding the provision that a person taking a child into custody may bring the child to the school campus to which the child is assigned if school is in session and the principal, the principal's designee or a peace officer assigned to the campus agrees to assume responsibility for the child the remainder of the school day. The bill would take effect September 1, 2007.
