This bill would amend the Transportation Code relating to advertising in Department of Public Safety (DPS) driver's license mailings.
The bill would amend Transportation Code, Section 521.006, which would allow DPS to sell advertising for inclusion in any mailings in connection with a driverís license (excluding advertising for alcoholic beverages or a product promoting alcoholic beverages). The bill would take effect immediately if two-thirds of the House of Representatives and Senate members vote to enact the legislation. If it does not receive the vote necessary for immediate impact, the bill would take effect on September 1, 2007.
The Department of Public Safety anticipates no significant fiscal impact to the agency.
