No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Section 521, Transportation Code which would require the Department of Public Safety (DPS) to suspend the instructional permit of a person who is convicted of two or more moving violations within a 12-month period, and to revoke the driver's license of a person who fails to provide information relating to the person's ability to safely operate a motor vehicle. DPS would be allowed to cancel a person's license if the person failed to update personal information on the license, failed to pay a license fee, or issued a check returned for insufficient funds. The bill would add the offense of Driving While Intoxicated with a Child Passenger to the list of offenses which require automatic license suspension. The bill states the revocation or prohibition under Section 521.344, Transportation Code takes effect on the 40^th day after the date the person is considered to have received notice of revocation or prohibition under Section 521.295, Transportation Code. The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure to increase the fee from $50 to $100 for reinstatement of the suspended license of a person on community supervision for certain offenses. The bill would take effect September 1, 2007. 

The Department of Public Safety anticipates no significant fiscal impact to the agency.
