No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Local Government Code to require a municipality when publishing notice of an election to vote on a municipal charter amendment to include an estimate of the anticipated fiscal impact to the municipality if a proposed amendment would be approved at the election. A person would not be allowed to seek injunctive relief or any other judicial remedy to enforce the estimate of the anticipated fiscal impact on the municipality.

The bill would apply only to an election for a charter amendment ordered on or after the effective date of the bill, which would be September 1, 2007.
