LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 80TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 29, 2007

TO:
Honorable John Carona, Chair, Senate Committee on Transportation & Homeland Security

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB1117 by Carona (Relating to the designation by name of parts of the highway system.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Transportation Code to establish certain restrictions on the naming of highways and to specify that the Texas Department of Transportation is not required to design, construct, or erect the required highway markers related to new highway designations unless a grant or donation of funds is made to the department to cover the costs.

Based on the analysis of TxDOT, it is assumed the provisions of the bill would not result in a significant fiscal impact to the state.

The bill would take effect immediately upon receiving a vote of two-thirds of all members elected to each house or otherwise on September 1, 2007.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
