No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Occupations Code relating to the regulation of metal recycling entities.

 

The bill would amend Occupations Code, Chapter 1956, which develops policies and procedures for the Department of Public Safety (DPS) and county, municipalities or political subdivisions to regulate metal recycling entities. The bill states individuals attempting to sell regulated materials to a metal recycling entity must provide the make, model, and licenses plate number of the vehicle used to transport the materials and present legal documentation that the individual is the legal owner to sell the regulated material. The bill also establishes metal recycling entities recordkeeping processes and criminal penalties for violations of this section. The bill takes effect on September 1, 2007. The bill would apply only to an offense committed on or after September 1, 2007.

 

DPS anticipates no significant fiscal impact to the agency.
