TO: | Honorable Robert Duncan, Chair, Senate Committee on State Affairs |
FROM: | John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board |
IN RE: | SB1167 by Duncan (Relating to appeals in cases arising under the Federal Arbitration Act.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted |
The bill would amend the Civil Practice and Remedies Code relating to appeals in cases under the Federal Arbitration Act. The bill would allow a person to appeal certain court judgments or orders under the same circumstances that an appeal from a federal district court's order or decision would be permitted under the Act. To the extent the bill would amend court proceedings, no significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. The bill would take effect September 1, 2007.
