IN RE:
SB1207 by Hegar (Relating to the removal by the county commissioners court of appointed special district board members who engage in misconduct.), As Engrossed

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would add Chapter 177 to Subtitle C, Title 5, Local Government Code, to establish steps for the removal of special district board members from their appointed board seats because of misconduct. The subchapter would not apply to a board member who serves ex officio, is elected, is appointed to fill a vacancy in an elected board member position, or is appointed by the governor.

The bill would take effect immediately if it were to receive the required two-thirds vote in each house; otherwise, it would take effect September 1, 2007.
