No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Government Code to increase from $20 to $250 the amount of a judgment that may be appealed from small claims court to the county court or county court at law. The bill would apply only to a cause of action filed on or after the effective date of the bill, which would be September 1, 2007.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
