LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 80TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 4, 2007

TO:
Honorable Florence Shapiro, Chair, Senate Committee on Education

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB1433 by Van de Putte (relating to the Employers for Education Excellence Award. ), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would direct the State Board of Education to establish a recognition program for employers that implement policies in support of employee involvement in schools.  The levels of recognition under the program would be based on the degree to which employers implement policies designed to encourage and support employee attendance at parent-teacher conferences, service as school volunteers, and participation in school-based student mentoring programs.  The Agency indicates that existing resources could be used to address administrative costs associated with the recognition program.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
