No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Occupations Code to identify and clarify certain powers and duties of the Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR).  The bill would provide the process of appointment and removal of board members from TDLR’s advisory boards; provide the authority to issue a subpoena under certain circumstances; authorize the Executive Director of TDLR to issue cease and desist orders and emergency orders; and provide the authority to issue temporary and emergency licenses.

 

Based on information provided by TDLR, it is assumed that costs related to the duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be covered by utilizing existing resources.

 

The bill would take effect September 1, 2007.
