IN RE: | SB1531 by Hinojosa (Relating to disposing of salvage or surplus personal property and purchasing by navigation districts.), Committee Report 2nd House, As Amended |
The bill would amend the Water Code (1) to specify that a peace officer employed or appointed by a navigation and can commission has the same powers and duties as a peace officer described by Article 2.12 in the Code of Criminal Procedure; (2) to change the threshold amounts regarding when to use certain purchasing methods; and (3) to authorize a navigation and canal commission to periodically dispose of surplus or salvage personal property in the same manner as the commissioners court of a county.
The bill would take effect immediately if it were to receive the required two-thirds vote in each house; otherwise, it would take effect September 1, 2007.
