FISCAL NOTE, 80TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 5, 2007

TO:
Honorable Jeff Wentworth, Chair, Senate Committee on Jurisprudence

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB1555 by Hinojosa (Relating to compensation and payment of attorney's fees of attorneys serving as guardians of a ward.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would prevent an attorney who represents a ward in a guardianship matter, while serving as the ward's guardian, from receiving reimbursement for those services from the ward's estate, or other funds available, unless the attorney files with the court a detailed description of the type of services performed for which the attorney is requesting reimbursement.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
