John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board
SB1716 by Seliger (Relating to a fee exemption for local law enforcement agencies in the licensing and registering of X-ray devices used for screening suspicious packages and other objects.), As Introduced
The bill would prohibit the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) from assessing a fee on a local law enforcement agency for the licensing and registration of an x-ray machine used for screening suspicious packages and other objects.
DSHS estimates a revenue loss of approximately $11,691 in General Revenue in fiscal years 2008, 2010 and 2012 and $3,486 in General Revenue in fiscal years 2009 and 2011.
According to DSHS, licenses are for a two-year period and are staggered. DSHS indicates fees would be increased for other types of registered facilities by $13.62 per registrant to offset the revenue loss.
