SB1794 by Ogden (Relating to eligibility for an occupational driver's license.), As Introduced

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Transportation Code to add that requirements pertaining to a person convicted of Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) for obtaining an occupational license would also apply to a person charged with DWI. In addition, the bill would require that a person applying for an occupational license may not have been charged with or convicted of certain other offenses. There would be changes to procedures for issuing an occupational license relating to persons charged with certain offenses.

The bill would take effect September 1, 2007, and would apply only to a petition requesting an occupational driver's license that is filed on or after that date.


Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
