Honorable John Carona, Chair, Senate Committee on Transportation & Homeland Security
FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE:
SB1888 by Hinojosa (Relating to the authority of certain counties to impose vehicle registration fees to address county mobility needs.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted
No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would add Section 502.189 to Chapter 502 of the Transportation Code to authorize imposition of an optional county fee to address mobility needs. The bill would take effect September 1, 2007.
Local Government Impact
Based on the geographic and population criteria for applicability of the bill, it would apply only to Hidalgo County. Because the bill would not have statewide impact on units of local government of the same type or class, no comment from this office is required by the rules of the House/Senate as to its probable fiscal implication on units of local government.
