No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill requires the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) and the Texas Education Agency (TEA) to jointly establish a school-based influenza vaccination pilot program in two school districts. DSHS is required to convene a working group to plan the pilot. DSHS and TEA are required to submit a written report by January 1, 2009. DSHS and TEA are authorized to seek, receive, and spend money received through an appropriation, grant, donation, or reimbursement from any public or private source to implement the pilot. It is assumed that the costs to implement the pilot can be absorbed within available resources.
