No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated, other than the cost of publication.
The cost to the state for publication of the resolution is $77,468.
The resolution would amend the Texas Constitution to provide that a Governor who appoints a public officer may remove the officer with the advice and consent of the majority of the Senate. The resolution would authorize the Senate to remove from office, with a two-thirds majority, a state board or commission member appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the Senate. The resolution would prohibit a state board or commission member whose term had expired from continuing to perform the duties of the board until a successor has been qualified.
