Pursuant to an announcement from the house floor on May 2, 2007, the House Committee on Economic Development met in a formal meeting and was called to order by the chair, Representative Deshotel, at 11:10 a.m.

 

The roll was answered as follows:

 

Present:              Representatives Deshotel; Straus; Kolkhorst; Dunnam; Morrison; Ortiz, Jr. (6).

 

Absent:              Representative Veasey (1).

 

A quorum was present.

 

SB 1152

 

The chair laid out SB 1152 as pending business.

 

Representative Morrison moved that SB 1152, without amendments, be reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed. The motion prevailed by the following record vote:

 

Ayes:                             Representatives Deshotel; Straus; Kolkhorst; Dunnam; Morrison; Ortiz, Jr. (6).

 

Nays:                             None (0).

 

Present, Not Voting:     None  (0).

 

Absent:                          Representative Veasey  (1).

 

SB 1424

 

(Representative Veasey now present.)

 

The chair laid out SB 1424 as pending business.

 

Representative Kolkhorst offered an amendment to the measure.

 

The amendment was adopted without objection.

 

The chair directed the staff to incorporate the amendment into a committee substitute without objection.

 

Representative Kolkhorst moved that SB 1424, as substituted, be reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed. The motion prevailed by the following record vote:

 

Ayes:                             Representatives Deshotel; Straus; Kolkhorst; Morrison; Ortiz, Jr. (5).

 

Nays:                             None (0).

 

Present, Not Voting:     Representatives Dunnam; Veasey  (2).

 

Absent:                          None  (0).
