Pursuant to an announcement on the House floor on May 14, 2007, and being granted permission to meet while the House is in session pending receipt of Senate messages and reading and referral of bills, and a suspension of the 5-day posting rule for SB 828 on May 14, 2007, the House Committee on Insurance met in a public hearing and was called to order by the chair, Representative Smithee, at 6:42 p.m.

 

The roll was answered as follows:

 

Present:              Representatives Smithee; Smith, Todd; Eiland; Hancock; Vo (5).

 

Absent:              Representatives Taylor; Martinez, "Mando"; Thompson; Woolley (4).

 

A quorum was present.

The chair laid out SB828.

 

Representative Smithee offered a complete committee substitute.

Testimony was taken.  (See attached witness list.)

 

The committee substitute was adopted without objection.

 

Representative Smith, Todd moved that SB828, as substituted, be reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed. The motion prevailed by the following record vote:

 

Ayes:                             Representatives Smithee; Smith, Todd; Taylor; Eiland; Hancock; Vo (6).

 

Nays:                             None (0).

 

Present, Not Voting:     None  (0).

 

Absent:                          Representatives Martinez, "Mando"; Thompson; Woolley  (3).
