Pursuant to an announcement from the house floor on May 7, 2007, and granted permission to meet while the House is in session, the House Committee on Judiciary met in a formal meeting and was called to order by the chair, Representative Hartnett, at 7:35 p.m.

 

The roll was answered as follows:

 

Present:              Representatives Hartnett; Homer; Hopson; Alonzo; Cook, Robby; Goolsby; Hughes (7).

 

Absent:              Representatives Gonzales; Krusee (2).

 

A quorum was present.

 

SB 2018

 

The chair laid out and explained SB 2018.

 

The chair moved that SB 2018, without amendments, be reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed and be sent to the Committee on Local and Consent Calendars. The motion prevailed by the following record vote:

 

Ayes:                             Representatives Hartnett; Homer; Hopson; Alonzo; Cook, Robby; Goolsby; Hughes (7).

 

Nays:                             None (0).

 

Present, Not Voting:     None  (0).

 

Absent:                          Representatives Gonzales; Krusee  (2).

 

 

 

HB 3198

 

The chair laid out HB 3198 as pending business.

 

The chair explained the measure.

 

The chair offered a complete committee substitute.

 

The committee substitute was adopted without objection.

 

The chair moved that HB 3198, as substituted, be reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed and be sent to the Committee on Local and Consent Calendars. The motion prevailed by the following record vote:
