Pursuant to an announcement from the house floor on May 17, 2007, the House Committee on Judiciary met in a formal meeting and was called to order by the chair, Representative Hartnett, at 6:20 p.m.
The roll was answered as follows:

A quorum was present.
The chair directed that the May 7, 2007 minutes for the public hearing for the House Committee on Judiciary be corrected. The corrected minutes were authorized without objection.
SB 1483
The chair laid out SB 1483.
The chair recognized Representative Gonzales to explain the measure.
Representative Gonzales moved that SB 1483, without amendments, be reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed and be sent to the Committee on Local and Consent Calendars. The motion prevailed by the following record vote:
