Pursuant to a notice posted on June 10, 2008, and revised on June 12, 2008, the House Committee on Law Enforcement met in a public hearing and was called to order by the chair, Representative Driver, at 9:02 a.m.
The roll was answered as follows:
Present: Representatives Driver; Latham; Allen, Alma; Vo (4).
Absent: Representatives Frost; Ortiz, Jr; West, George "Buddy" (3).
A quorum was present.
Interim Charge #6: Monitor the agencies and programs under the committee's jurisdiction.

Interim Charge #3: Study the funding of Texas 9-1-1 and poison control systems and the requirement to transition Texas 9-1-1 systems to the next generation of technology to meet future expectations for emergency communication systems.

Interim Topic: The committee will take testimony on the implementation on the implementation of California Vehicle Code Chapter 433, Section 9954, (SB 1542, passed in 2006) and the progress of the National Automotive Service Task Force Vehicle Security Committee locksmith registry and Secure Data Release Model pilot program, also referred to as the national volunteer effort.
