Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Administration was held on Tuesday, February 6, 2007, in the E1.714

The chair called the meeting to order at 2:15 p.m. There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted:
The chair laid out the committee rules for the 80th Legislative Session. Senator Uresti moved that the committee rules be adopted, there being 5 ayes and no nays, the rules were adopted.
Senator Brimer laid out each committee's proposed budget amount and any exception letters that were submitted. Senator Seliger moved to adopt each budget at the proposed rate. Proposed budget amounts were: Administration-$92,000Business and Commerce-$164,675Criminal Justice-$182,455 and one salary exemption letterEducation-$154,735 and one salary exemption letterFinance-$201,706Government Organization-$160,000Health and Human Services-$184,771 and one salary exemption letterIntergovernmental Relations-$150,000International Relations and Trade-$120,000Jurisprudence-$158,834Natural Resources-$156,157Nominations-$71,872State Affairs-$152,565 and one salary exemption letterSubcommittee on Agriculture-$39,474Subcommittee on Base Realignment and Closure-$39,474Subcommittee on Flooding & Evacuations-$39,474Subcommittee on Emerging Technologies and Economic Development-$39,474Subcommittee on Higher Education-$76,000Transportation and Homeland Security-$144,847 and one salary exemptionVeterans Affairs and Military Installations-$82,200There being 5 ayes and no nays the committee budgets and exemptions were adopted. There being no further business, Senator Brimer moved that the Committee stand recessed pending the upcoming security briefing, subject to the call of the chair.
