Pursuant to suspension of Senate Rule 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Administration was held on Friday, May 11, 2007, in the Betty King Committee Hearing Room, 2E.20, at Austin, Texas.

The chair called the meeting to order at 8:32 a.m. There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted:
At 8:32 a.m. Senator Uresti assumed the chair.
The chair laid out HB 3249 and recognized the Senate sponsor, Senator Brimer, to explain the bill.
Senator Brimer sent up a committee substitute; the chair recognized to explain the difference between the committee substitute and the house bill as engrossed. Senator Brimer moved adoption of the committee substitute; without objection, it was so ordered.
Joey Longley, representing Sunset Commission, testified on the bill.
The chair moved that the public testimony be closed; without objection, it was so ordered.
Senator Wentworth moved that HB 3249 do not pass but that CSHB 3249 be reported back to the Senate with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed. The motion carried with a record vote of 5 ayes, 0 nay, 0 present not voting, and 2 absent.
Senator Wentworth moved that the bill be recommended for placement on the Local & Uncontested Calendar; without objection, it was so ordered.
At 8:42 a.m. Senator Brimer resumed the chair.
Senator Brimer laid out the recommend list for the May 15, 2007, Local and Uncontested Calendar. The following bills were removed: SB 37, SB 1015, SB 1481, SB 1593, HB 416, HB 914, HB 1251, HB 1610, HB 2967. Senator Uresti moved that the bills on the recommended list for the May 15, 2007, Local and Uncontested Calendar be certified with the exception of the above bills. The motion passed with a record vote of 5 ayes, 0 nays, 2 absent.
There being no further business, at 8:49 a.m. Senator Brimer moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the chair. Without objection, it was so ordered.
