Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Finance was held on Tuesday, February 13, 2007, in the Capitol Extension, Room E1.036, at Austin, Texas.

The chair called the meeting to order at 8:01 a.m.  The following business was transacted: 

 

Senator Zaffirini assumed the chair. 

 

The chair laid out as pending business, SB 1.

 

Testimony was given on the following institutions of higher education.  Witnesses testifying and registering on the bill are shown on the attached list. 

 

Texas State University System

 

The roll was called, and a quorum was established.

 

Testimony resumed.

Senator Zaffirini moved that SB 1 be left pending; without objection, it was so ordered. 

 

Senator Ogden resumed the chair. 

 

At 10:47 a.m. Senator Ogden moved that the Committee stand recessed until 45 minutes after the adjournment of the Senate; without objection, it was so ordered.

 

Senator Zaffirini reconvened the Committee at 12:45 p.m.

 

The chair laid out as pending business, SB 1, which had been left pending earlier in the hearing.

 

Testimony on the following institutions of higher education resumed:

            University of Houston - Victoria

Senator Ogden assumed the chair.

Senator Ogden moved that SB 1 be left pending; without objection, it was so ordered. 

 

There being no further business, at 2:28 p.m. Senator Ogden moved that the Committee stand recessed until 8:00 a.m., February 14, 2007.  Without objection, it was so ordered.
